Eastern Mutual provides cost effective, innovative insurance solutions for individuals and small businesses in upstate eastern New York through a group of professional independent agents. Customized programs are available for restaurants, beauticians, home-based businesses, hobby type farming operations, equine farms and seasonal residences, to name a few.

Over fifty percent of our 6,700 policyholders purchase personal lines insurance for their homes, mobile homes, hobby farms and home-based businesses. Coverage is provided for both primary and secondary residences. About 3,300 policyholders secure coverage for commercial exposures on our Businessowner policy, Special Multi-Peril policy, Farmowner policy, or Landlord policy. Since there is a wide variety of commercial exposures, each submission receives the individual attention of our underwriting staff.

Coverage for the small business owner is one of our specialties. Individually customized programs for family restaurants, beauty shops, barber shops, office buildings, museums, cemeteries, convenience stores, as well as a wide variety of retail and service establishments are available.

Eastern Mutual has a customized, competitively priced program for “gentlemen” or hobby farmers. We also offer insurance protection under our Farmowner policy for the dairy farmer, beef farmer, the vegetable or crop farmer with an option to cover farmers markets and roadside stands, as well as some unique farm exposures such as deer, elk, llama, and emu farms.
Eastern Mutual has expanded its Inland Marine products to include unique exposures such as antique tractors, fine arts, antiques, collectibles, livestock and farm machinery.
